My regular hotel was full for part of my stay in Florence but I was advised of a sister hotel, the Macchiaioli that had just opened. I took a look and fell in love with it. the palazzo in which it is located dates to the 1800-s but the hotel itself is brand new and restored. The ceilings are decorated, painted and frescoed. the rooms are beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. the staff is welcoming and helpful-- The public areas and the breakfast rooms are elegant. the hotel I think has only 14 rooms which creates a little respite from the bustling city outside. All in all I loved it and the people who run it.
